SHARJAH: Sharjah Summer Promotions 2026 generated more than AED 850 million in economic returns for the emirate’s retail sector and related industries, according to organisers, following a 114-day programme that brought together more than 1,000 stores and businesses.
The campaign was organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), with participation from retailers, shopping centres, hotels and tourism businesses.
The reported economic figure comes as the 2026 edition concluded on September 15. The programme was designed to encourage consumer spending while linking retail activity with tourism, hospitality and family entertainment across Sharjah.
A record 114-day summer programme
The combined summer programme ran for 114 consecutive days, making it the longest edition to date, organisers said.
Hotel and hospitality promotions began on May 25, while the main retail phase started on July 1 and continued until September 15. The retail programme featured discounts of up to 75 per cent across categories including fashion, fragrances, electronics and home furnishings.
More than 55 government and private-sector partners supported the campaign. It also featured more than 60 tourism packages and experiences, extending the programme beyond conventional shopping promotions.
The campaign covered destinations and retail locations across Sharjah, including Sharjah city and the emirate’s East Coast destinations. Earlier in the programme, organisers highlighted locations including Khorfakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn as part of the wider tourism offering.
Retail, tourism and hospitality combined
The campaign’s economic model relied on bringing several parts of Sharjah’s visitor economy together.
Alongside discounts at shopping centres and retail outlets, participating hotels and tourism businesses offered promotional packages. The programme also included family attractions and events intended to increase footfall at participating destinations.
One of the main family attractions was Shamsa Entertainment City at Aljada, which featured interactive activities, augmented-reality experiences and adventure attractions. The venue operated as part of the summer programme until September 5.
The campaign also included a Back-to-School initiative, promotional activity connected with the Fili Heritage Souq and offers linked to Sharjah International Airport. More than 7,000 Shamsa-branded gifts were distributed to children through participating shopping centres, according to the organisers.
More than 700 prizes offered to shoppers
Consumer participation was supported by a large prize programme.
The campaign offered more than 700 prizes, including 51 major prizes distributed through five digital raffle draws. The prize pool included 30 gold bars, shopping vouchers and retail gifts, while a luxury car was awarded as the grand prize during the final draw at Sahara Centre.
The prize programme was developed in cooperation with the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) and formed part of the campaign’s strategy to encourage shoppers to participate through purchases at participating businesses.
Sharjah’s retail sector gets a summer boost
The reported AED 850 million in economic returns reflects the organisers’ assessment of the campaign’s effect on retail and related sectors rather than a government-wide economic figure.
SCCI Chairman Abdallah Sultan Al Owais said the campaign helped stimulate retail activity and supported businesses across tourism, hospitality and retail supply chains.
The campaign’s organisers have also positioned Sharjah Summer Promotions as an annual mechanism for supporting the emirate’s retail sector. SCCI describes the initiative as a programme intended to support retail activity while promoting Sharjah’s shopping, tourism and family attractions.
The 2026 edition therefore combined direct retail promotions with tourism packages, hospitality offers, entertainment and seasonal family activities, creating a broader programme around summer spending in the emirate.
With the 2026 campaign now concluded, the reported AED 850 million return provides an indication of the scale of commercial activity generated across the participating retail, hospitality and tourism businesses during the summer period.
