Abu Dhabi: Motorists in Abu Dhabi should account for two separate road restrictions while travelling across the emirate this weekend, including a new closure in Mohamed Bin Zayed City and an ongoing lane closure on the E11 in Al Dhafra.
A section of Suhel Star Street in Mohamed Bin Zayed City will close from 10pm on Friday, September 18, until 4am on Monday, September 21, according to the latest traffic update. Drivers using the area have been advised to plan their journeys and use alternative routes.
The closure comes as traffic remains generally manageable across much of Abu Dhabi, although motorists are encountering slower sections around some major commercial and residential areas.
Suhel Star Street closure starts Friday night
The temporary restriction on Suhel Star Street is expected to affect drivers travelling through Mohamed Bin Zayed City during the weekend.
The affected section will remain closed for more than two days, ending early Monday morning. Motorists should follow temporary road signs and choose alternative routes where required.
The latest traffic information shows that roads around Abu Dhabi University, Sireef Street and E22 are generally flowing, while some connecting routes in Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Mussafah are experiencing moderate or heavier traffic.
E11 lane closure remains in Al Dhafra
A separate restriction continues on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road (E11) in the Al Dhafra Region.
The left lane in the direction of Abu Dhabi is closed from September 15 until September 20. Drivers travelling towards the capital have been advised to allow additional time and follow diversion signs and temporary road directions.
The E11 restriction is therefore still active on Friday, September 18, with the scheduled closure due to continue through Sunday.
Where traffic is slower in Abu Dhabi
In central Abu Dhabi, traffic is mostly moving, but motorists may encounter delays around Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station and Al Nahyan.
Slower traffic has also been reported along Al Karamah Street near Mubadala Tower and parts of Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, including areas around Parallel Cafe and Al Bateen Palace.
Short stretches of congestion have been observed around signalised intersections along the Al Karamah Street and Sultan Bin Zayed The First Street corridor.
In Mussafah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City, traffic is generally flowing on several outer routes. However, moderate traffic has been reported on Al Hiraf Street around M9, M14 and Mazyad Mall.
Drivers may also experience slower movement near NMC Royal Hospital, Burjeel Medical City and the ICAD I–ME12 corridor. Heavier traffic has been noted on parts of Al Hiraf Street and on connecting roads approaching the ME11 and ME12 intersections.
