Dubai: Nakheel has awarded a construction contract worth more than AED 800 million to Metac General Contracting Co. for 537 homes at Bay Grove Residences, advancing construction of the waterfront community on Dubai Islands.
The contract covers Phases 1 and 3, comprising seven residential buildings. Phase 1 will contain 296 homes across four buildings, while Phase 3 will add 241 homes across three buildings. The residences range from one to four bedrooms.
Main construction works under the contract are expected to be completed in late 2028.
The scope goes beyond the residential structures and includes basement works, related infrastructure and amenities planned for residents, including swimming pools, play courts and a fitness centre.
Bay Grove project to include 1,154 homes
Bay Grove Residences is planned as a 1,154-home waterfront community spread across 15 residential buildings.
The remaining 617 homes are planned under Phases 2 and 4. Nakheel said planning for those phases is progressing, with further construction appointments expected to be announced.
The development is designed around landscaped communal areas, walking and cycling routes and access to Crystal Beach. The current construction award therefore represents one part of a larger residential programme rather than the completion of the entire Bay Grove community.
Bay Grove is located within Dubai Islands, the large coastal development off Deira being developed across five interconnected islands. Nakheel describes the wider destination as a master-planned area combining residential, hospitality, leisure and other uses.
The Dubai Islands masterplan includes more than 20 kilometres of beaches, as well as parks, open spaces, golf facilities, hotels, cultural destinations and waterfront residential communities.
Dubai Islands development continues to expand
The latest Bay Grove contract follows other major construction and infrastructure awards linked to Dubai Islands.
In April 2026, Nakheel awarded AED 527 million to Al Nasr Contracting Company for primary infrastructure and utilities works on Island B. The package includes roads and paving, potable water, electricity and telecommunications networks, drainage and sewage systems, and integration with the district cooling network.
Dubai Holding said the wider Dubai Islands development spans 18.6 square kilometres across five interconnected islands, with approximately 57 kilometres of coastline, including 21 kilometres of beachfront. The masterplan is intended to support residential, hospitality and mixed-use development.
For Bay Grove, the latest contract marks the transition of 537 homes into the main construction programme. The remaining phases will determine how the full 1,154-home community is delivered as additional construction contracts are awarded.
