Dubai: Passengers travelling from the UAE on Thursday, September 17, are facing a mixed flight picture, with selected cancellations and delays reported at Dubai International Airport and Sharjah International Airport.
The situation varies by airline and route. Some services between the UAE and Gulf destinations are operating, while several flights have been cancelled and others are running behind schedule. Airlines and airports continue to advise passengers to check their individual flight status before travelling.
The latest update also shows that the disruption is not uniform across the UAE. Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi had no major delays or cancellations published on its website in the morning update reviewed for this report, although passengers were still advised to verify their flight directly with the airline.
Dubai flights: cancellations and delays reported
At Dubai International Airport (DXB), the reported cancellations included Emirates flight EK636 from Dubai to Peshawar, while Al Jazeera services J9122 and J9124 to Kuwait and Syrian Air flight RB518 to Damascus were also listed as cancelled.
Two delays were reported in the same update: Emirates EK797 from Dubai to Conakry and Nepal Airlines flight RA230 from Dubai to Kathmandu.
Dubai Airports maintains an online flight-status service allowing passengers to check departures and arrivals. Flight information can change during the day, making the airport and airline status pages more useful than relying only on an earlier booking confirmation.
Emirates services
Some Emirates services to Gulf destinations were continuing to operate.
The September 17 update showed EK837 from Dubai to Bahrain had arrived, with EK839 scheduled. Emirates flight EK857 from Dubai to Kuwait was also scheduled. Passengers were advised to use the airline’s official channels for the latest information before travelling.
Emirates’ official flight-status service allows passengers to search by flight number or route. The airline advises customers affected by operational changes to check their flight status and communications before going to the airport.
flydubai: selected flights cancelled
flydubai also had a combination of operating and cancelled services.
Flights FZ029 and FZ023 between Dubai and Bahrain had arrived, while FZ021, FZ027 and FZ063 were scheduled. However, FZ817 from Dubai to Yanbu and FZ815 from Dubai to Abha were listed as cancelled in the latest update.
flydubai’s official website currently provides a dedicated flight-status checker, while its customer advisory says the airline is operating across its network with a reduced schedule. It also warns that some flight durations and transit times may be longer because of temporary route changes.
For passengers departing Dubai on flydubai, the airline has advised allowing additional time at the airport and checking the flight status before departure.
Air Arabia services from Sharjah
Sharjah-based Air Arabia was also showing route-specific cancellations.
The latest update listed G9068 and G9124 from Sharjah to Kuwait as cancelled, while G9121 had not yet departed. The Sharjah-Bahrain service G9107 was also cancelled, while G9103 and G9105 remained scheduled.
An Air Arabia service from Abu Dhabi to Kuwait, flight 3L020, was also listed as cancelled.
Because individual flight schedules can change at short notice, passengers should check Air Arabia’s official flight information before travelling to Sharjah International Airport.
Abu Dhabi services largely operating in the morning update
The situation at Abu Dhabi was different from the disruption reported at some Dubai and Sharjah services.
No major delays or cancellations were published on the Zayed International Airport website in the morning update reviewed for this report. Etihad services between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain and Kuwait were also reported as operating, including Bahrain flights EY647 and EY641 and Kuwait service EY653.
Etihad’s booking system was also showing scheduled September 17 services on several routes, including Abu Dhabi-Delhi and Abu Dhabi-Hyderabad. However, a scheduled flight or bookable itinerary should not be treated as a guarantee that an individual service will operate without changes.
Several international airlines continue to adjust UAE services
The disruption extends beyond UAE-based airlines. The latest update shows that some international carriers have restored or maintained UAE connections, while others continue to suspend selected routes.
Among the airlines reported as operating or restoring services were Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, flynas and Jazeera Airways. At the same time, carriers including Air France, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, ITA Airways, Finnair, Philippine Airlines, AirBaltic, Korean Air and Pegasus continued to have some UAE routes suspended.
The status of individual routes can therefore differ substantially even within the same airport or airline network.

Passengers travelling from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah should check the specific flight number shortly before leaving for the airport.
The latest guidance recommends:

- Allow additional time at the airport.
