South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook’s latest romantic drama, Merry Berry Love, is gaining international attention after securing the second position on Disney+’s worldwide TV show chart. The series also received a 9.9 out of 10 rating for its fourth episode on IMDb, reflecting a strong response from viewers who have followed the story since its October premiere.
According to FlixPatrol, which tracks streaming platform rankings, Merry Berry Love was No. 2 on Disney+’s worldwide TV chart on October 30, 2026. It also ranked first among non-English-language titles on the chart, according to reports published on November 4.
The series had previously reached the top position worldwide following the release of its second episode on October 14. Its return to second place in its fourth week has kept the Korea-Japan production in the international streaming conversation.
What makes Merry Berry Love different?
The romantic comedy brings together South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook and Japanese actress Mio Imada in a story set on a Japanese island.
Ji Chang-wook plays Lee Yu-bin, a Korean space planner whose professional life takes an unexpected turn after his business collapses. Hoping to sell farmland connected to his family, he travels to Charo Island in Japan.
There, he meets Shirahama Karin, played by Mio Imada, a local farmer who is committed to growing strawberries and preserving her family’s agricultural legacy.
Their first encounter is far from romantic. A misunderstanding involving Karin’s strawberry field creates friction between the two, setting up a relationship that gradually develops through their interactions and changing circumstances.
The official Disney+ programme description identifies the series as a Korea-Japan romantic comedy, with the story following the unlikely connection between a city professional and a determined strawberry farmer.
Episode 4 receives a 9.9 IMDb rating
The fourth episode has become another talking point among viewers.
IMDb’s episode listing displays a 9.9/10 rating for the October 28 episode, based on 24 user ratings in the available listing. The episode features an important development in Yu-bin and Karin’s relationship as the two finally acknowledge their feelings and share a kiss.
The episode’s high score indicates a positive response among the users who rated it. However, IMDb ratings are audience-submitted scores and can change as more people watch and rate an episode.
The show’s overall IMDb rating should also be distinguished from the score awarded to an individual episode.
A Korea-Japan collaboration reaching international audiences
One of the interesting aspects of Merry Berry Love is its cross-border production.
The series is a CJ ENM global project featuring performers from South Korea and Japan. Alongside Ji Chang-wook and Mio Imada, the cast includes Nam Yoon-su as Park Kunam and Rinka Kumada as Mari Mizuno.
The supporting characters bring additional relationships and storylines to the island setting, giving the romantic comedy more than one developing relationship.
For international viewers, the production also offers a combination of Korean romantic-comedy storytelling and Japanese island-life settings. Its strawberry-farming backdrop provides a different environment from the urban workplaces and city relationships commonly featured in many contemporary romance dramas.
Episode 5 brings a new character into the story
Following the relationship developments in episode 4, attention is turning to the next instalment.
Episode 5 is scheduled for release on Disney+ on November 4, 2026, with a corresponding Japanese broadcast on Nippon TV, according to the published release information. The programme follows a Wednesday release schedule.
The next episode introduces Han Si A, portrayed by Lee Hyo In. She is described as Yu-bin’s former university junior and the granddaughter of the chairman of a major construction company.
Her arrival on Charo Island could complicate the relationship between Yu-bin and Karin. Promotional stills released ahead of the episode show Yu-bin taking on domestic responsibilities, offering a lighter glimpse of the changing dynamic between the central characters.
The new character’s connection to Yu-bin also introduces another storyline beyond the developing romance.
For Disney+ viewers, the coming episode will reveal how the characters respond to her arrival and whether the relationship between Yu-bin and Karin continues to develop.
With its international chart position, strong episode-level IMDb score and an expanding storyline, Merry Berry Love is giving Ji Chang-wook another opportunity to connect with audiences through romantic comedy.
