Meta has introduced its Meta One subscription service in the UAE, giving users the option to pay for additional features across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Meta AI.
The new subscriptions do not make the core apps paid. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and everyday Meta AI functions remain available without a subscription, while paid plans provide additional customisation, artificial intelligence usage and tools aimed at creators and businesses.
Meta announced the wider Meta One rollout on September 15, saying the service includes more than 50 features across its apps and that the company had recorded 15 million subscriptions and trials globally to date. Meta said the rollout will also expand to products such as Edits and AI glasses over time.

What does WhatsApp Plus offer?
The entry-level WhatsApp subscription is designed around personalisation and organisation rather than replacing the free messaging service.
For Dh5.99 a month, subscribers can access exclusive themes and icons, special-effect stickers and the ability to pin more chats.
Meta also said it plans to test additional WhatsApp Plus features, including storage for chat and media backups and Focus Schedules that can mute or hide chats at selected times.
Instagram and Facebook get additional features
Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are positioned as optional upgrades for users who want additional ways to customise and use the platforms.
Meta’s broader subscription offering includes features such as enhanced expression tools, additional insights and other customisation options. Facebook Plus also includes features such as customised app icons and enhanced reactions, while Instagram Plus includes additional Story and messaging-related functions.
The subscriptions are therefore separate from Meta’s basic social-media experience. Users who do not want the additional features can continue using the free versions.
Meta is also putting AI behind paid tiers
The larger Meta One bundles combine the individual app subscriptions with expanded access to Meta’s artificial-intelligence tools.
The UAE Core plan costs Dh22.99 a month, while Premium is Dh76.99 a month. These plans provide greater access to AI-powered image and video generation and additional use of creative tools such as Instagram’s Restyle and voice effects.
Meta said everyday use of Meta AI remains free. The paid tiers are intended for people who want higher usage limits and more advanced creative capabilities.
What is available for creators and businesses?
Meta is also targeting professional users with subscription plans that go well beyond cosmetic features.
The Essential plan for creators and businesses starts at Dh46.99 a month in the UAE. It includes tools such as enhanced profiles, a more prominent follow button on Reels, automated follow invitations and greater access to Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp.
Higher plans add professional capabilities such as content scheduling, analytics, audience insights, team access and additional WhatsApp business tools. The top Max tier starts at Dh1,199 a month.
Meta’s global announcement said its creator and business bundles are designed to provide more tools for managing online presence, publishing content, understanding audiences and handling customer interactions.
Do UAE users have to pay for WhatsApp or Instagram?
No.
The introduction of Meta One does not mean WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook have become mandatory paid services. Meta says the core experience across its apps remains free.
A UAE user can continue using WhatsApp for messaging, Instagram for viewing and sharing content, and Facebook without subscribing. Payment is required only for the additional features included in the relevant subscription plan.
The move gives Meta a new subscription-based revenue stream alongside its established advertising business, while also creating paid access to more AI-intensive services.
