Dubai: Motorists travelling across Dubai and Sharjah faced a difficult morning commute on Tuesday, September 15, as several major roads showed heavy congestion and isolated traffic restrictions.
Live traffic information available during the morning showed the heaviest pressure on parts of Al Khail Road (E44), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Al Ittihad Road (E11) in Sharjah. Conditions varied considerably by location, with some major Dubai corridors continuing to move normally.
E44 congestion affects Business Bay and eastern Dubai
One of the main trouble spots was E44 around the Business Bay and Dubai Design District area, where traffic was shown in red around the junctions connecting with D71 and D69.
Further east, another significant slowdown appeared on E44 near the Dubai Safari Park roundabout in Warsan. The traffic map also showed a temporary closure marker in the area.
Additional congestion was visible around the E66/D77 connection near Dubai Silicon Oasis, creating potential delays for motorists travelling between eastern Dubai communities.
E311 slows near Discovery Gardens
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road was also affected at selected points.
A red traffic section was reported on E311 near the D59/D591 junction around Discovery Gardens. This adds pressure for motorists using the highway to connect between southern and central parts of Dubai.
However, traffic conditions were not uniformly heavy along the entire E311 corridor. The road near Silicon Oasis and International City was reported as mostly green, highlighting how quickly conditions differed between individual interchanges.
JVC and surrounding roads see localised congestion
Motorists around Jumeirah Village Circle were also encountering a localised bottleneck.
A red section was visible on D61 close to the JVC roundabout and Circle Mall. Other roads around Dubai Marina, Al Barsha and JVC were generally moving more freely.
This means drivers travelling within the JVC area could face delays even when nearby sections of E11 and other major roads remained relatively clear.
Sharjah’s E11 remains a major pressure point
On the Sharjah side, Al Ittihad Road (E11) was among the most heavily affected routes.
Traffic was shown as dark red from the Al Mamzar Beach Park area through Al Khan and towards central Sharjah. The congestion was also accompanied by slow-moving traffic on the S112/S116 corridor through Industrial Area 6 and Muhaisnah towards University City.
Several incident or restriction markers were visible along these routes.
Near Sharjah International Airport, the E88 interchange was also marked, while roads including D91, D93 and D95 towards Al Rashidiya showed further congestion.
For commuters crossing between Dubai and Sharjah, these conditions could translate into longer journey times, particularly during the morning peak.
Which Dubai roads were moving more freely?
Traffic was comparatively lighter on several other major corridors.
The traffic map showed mostly green conditions around Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Motor City and Dubai Sports City. Emirates Road (E611) around Silicon Oasis and International City was also shown as largely clear.
