Faster charging may matter more than a new design

Apple says fast charging can take the battery from zero to 80 per cent in about 30 minutes. A 15-minute charge can provide up to 12 hours of normal use, according to Apple’s specifications.
The watch therefore remains a device that many users will charge daily rather than a multi-day smartwatch. The faster charging is particularly relevant to people who use sleep tracking and don’t want to leave the watch off the wrist for long periods.
Bright display and new case choices
The Series 12 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, with aluminium, titanium and ceramic case options. Apple specifies an Always-On Retina wide-angle OLED display with up to 2,000 nits of brightness.
Aluminium models use Ceramic Shield 2, while titanium and ceramic versions have sapphire crystal displays. Apple lists new finishes including dark bronze, light gold, black and space grey for aluminium, along with radiant gold and natural titanium and pearl white and night blue ceramic options.
The higher brightness should be useful for outdoor use, including walking and exercising in bright Gulf conditions, although Apple’s stated operating temperature range should be considered during periods of extreme heat.
