DUBAI: Young members of the Indian diaspora living in the UAE have been invited to apply for a place at Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (YPBD) 2027, which is scheduled to take place in Kolkata from January 7 to 9, 2027.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai, working with the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, will select five young people from the UAE to attend the event, according to information confirmed by the Consulate to Gulf News.
The programme forms part of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), the Government of India’s initiative for engagement with the overseas Indian community. The Ministry of External Affairs describes PBD as a major platform for strengthening India’s relationship with its diaspora, with the 19th PBD Convention scheduled for January 2027.
Who can apply from the UAE?
The UAE opportunity is aimed at Indian diaspora members aged 21 to 25 who are resident in the country.
According to the Consulate’s application information, eligible applicants can include:
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
- Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs)
Applicants are required to prepare a 500-word essay on the theme:
“Youth as Catalysts for a Stronger India–UAE Partnership”.
The application must also include the candidate’s photograph and CV.
October 5 is the UAE application deadline
Applicants from the UAE must email their entries to press.dubai@mea.gov.in by October 5, 2026.
The Consulate has also specified that each applicant can register only once, while the mission’s decision on the selection will be final, according to the information reported by Gulf News.
The selection gives five young people from the UAE an opportunity to participate in the Kolkata programme alongside young members of the Indian diaspora from other countries.

Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is the youth-focused component of the wider Pravasi Bharatiya Divas programme. It provides a platform for younger members of the Indian diaspora to connect with one another and discuss issues involving India and overseas Indian communities.
