Ramayana Box Office Day 2: Epic Crosses Rs100 Crore Net in India

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One has crossed the Rs100 crore net mark in India within two days of release, according to trade tracker Sacnilk, even though collections fell on the second day. Early estimates also put the film’s worldwide gross above Rs200 crore.

The mythological epic, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Yash as Ravana, opened in cinemas worldwide, including in the UAE, on Thursday, 5 November 2026. It is releasing in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

Day 2 numbers: how the trackers compare

Box office figures for big Indian releases often vary between trackers and producers, and Ramayana is no exception.

  • Sacnilk (all languages, India net): Rs64.85 crore on Day 1 and an early estimate of Rs48.05 crore on Day 2, a drop of about 26 per cent, according to the Free Press Journal. That takes the two-day India net total to about Rs112.9 crore.
  • Sacnilk (India gross and overseas): The same report put the India gross at Rs134.8 crore and the overseas gross at Rs86.25 crore, for a worldwide gross of about Rs221 crore.
  • Bollywood Hungama (Hindi version only): Rs45.46 crore on Day 1 and an estimated Rs36 crore to Rs38 crore on Day 2, taking the Hindi total to about Rs82 crore.
  • The makers: According to The Week, the producers said the film earned Rs155 crore gross worldwide on its opening day, higher than tracker estimates for that day.

On Day 2, Hindi contributed the largest share of India collections, followed by Kannada and Telugu, according to Sacnilk figures reported by the Free Press Journal.

Why Friday was quieter

Bollywood Hungama reported that Dhanteras affected business across the board on Friday. The film’s opening day was described by the outlet as “the biggest Pre-Diwali opening of all time”.

Trade watchers are now looking at the Diwali weekend. Bollywood Hungama expects collections to rise on Saturday and dip on Sunday, the day of Diwali celebrations, before a strong Monday as the festive holiday begins. It suggested Monday “could be the biggest single day ever” for a Hindi film, though this is a projection rather than a result.

About the film

Ramayana is planned as a two-part film. It is produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash, and the cast also includes Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey. The Week reported that the second part is scheduled for Diwali 2028, and that the combined budget for both parts has been described as Rs4,000 crore, which would make it the most expensive Indian film franchise.

The film’s official social media handle thanked audiences, saying: “Thank you for making Ramayana a historic celebration and an epic for the ages.”

Before release, the producers secured a court order to protect the film from piracy. Read our earlier report on the Bombay High Court’s anti-piracy order for Ramayana.

Watching in the UAE

The film is playing in cinemas across the UAE as part of a busy November line-up. For residents planning a festive outing, it is worth booking in advance for evening shows over the Diwali weekend and checking which language version and format each cinema is offering.
